My City Catering has a dedicated team of hospitality professionals. It is our goal to provide the best more affordable and quality catering service for your event.

Because each event is as unique as the person creating it, it is our job is to ask specific questions, to listen and learn about our clients' thoughts and ideas, likes, dislikes and budgetary needs. Our event managers will help you implement the details, create a menu, and help materialize your vision. We are committed to helping you create a memorable event.

My City Catering will accommodate any service level you may need, whether you need full-service food and beverage catering, rentals and event staff, or you just need one server to help with a small private party we will always provide the level of service you need.

Our event staff team members are experienced front of house and back of house personnel who are available to serve at your next event. We screen all of our members to ensure we have reliable, professional, and quality service oriented individuals.

Liquor Catering

Obtaining a permit to serve alcohol

A My City Catering representative can provide you with advice on the NYS Liquor Authority’s requirements with regards to serving alcohol. You can also find more information on the SLA website at https://www.sla.ny.gov/online-permit-applications

TIPS ON ALCOHOL SERVICE IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK:

A caterer is required by law to file for a permit anytime alcohol is being served. Unless your party is in a private residence, a permit must be filed for each event.

A caterer’s permit is an extension of a liquor license, the SLA permit fee is $48 per bar (point of service), and valid only for the date of the event. The permit application must be submitted to the SLA two weeks prior to the event date. A catering (food) order is mandatory for any event where alcohol is being served, and My City Catering requires a minimum order of $10 per person, with the use of our staff to pour and mix alcoholic beverages, to obtain the Caterer’s permit for your event. We cannot service an event with a “cash bar,” nor can we lend our liquor license to an event where sponsored alcohol is being served. Absolutely no sponsored or retail liquor is permitted during your events. Please speak to our event managers to plan your catering package, we do make special price considerations to meet our client’s budgetary needs.

My City Catering can offer two options for getting a permit:

Option 1: Temporary Beer & Wine Permit: $36 permit fee, beer and wine must also be served with a minimum food order, liquor cannot be served under the restrictions of this permit.

Option 2: Caterer’s Permit: $48 permit fee, a licensed caterer must provide the food and alcohol for your event. You cannot mix caterers liquor with your own store bought or sponsored liquor. Without a proper permit in place, liquor liability insurance will not be valid, and certificates of insurance cannot be issued.

All permits will be subject to the following conditions:

  • Application must be received by the Liquor Authority a minimum of 15 days prior to the event.
  • Food must be provided by applicant/licensee, meeting the minimum requirements under Section 64-A of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Law, for example: salads, soups, sandwiches, and finger foods. Pretzels and potato chips do not meet the minimum requirements for food.

Site Diagram: A diagram of the event space is required, it must indicate the locations of the bar, restrooms and all entrances and exits to restricted areas.

Menu: A menu is required to be submitted with an application for a caterer’s permit.

Landlord Signature Form: The landlord or building management must sign and date this form and the form must be submitted with your application for both the Temporary Beer and Wine permit and the Caterer’s permit.   • NEAT or STRAIGHT = unmixed liquor at room temperature
  • +UP = chilled and served without ice in a cocktail glass
  • ON THE ROCKS = liquor poured over ice cubes
  • SHOT = served neat in a shot glass
  • CHILLED = shaken or stirred with ice and then strained and served without ice
  • DIRTY = slightly adding some of the Brine, Usually Olive Juice.
